History:The synagogue in Chomutov was located about 300 metres north of the centre of Chomutov, at the corner of today's Mostecká and Karla Buriana streets. It was built in 1876 in the Neo-Romanesque style according to the plans of an unknown author and on 9 November 1938 it was burnt down during Kristallnacht. Its ruins were subsequently demolished in April 1939. At the turn of the 1950s and 1960s, an apartment building was built on the site of the former synagogue. Finally, on 13 November 2018, a small monument was unveiled on the site of the former synagogue, which commemorates the synagogue and Kristallnacht.
