History:This monument was created by sculptor and artistic blacksmith Karel Meloun in 1980. The monument originally served as a memorial to one of the leaders of the international communist movement, Jiri Dimitrov. However, this monument was damaged by vandals in 1989, so the city council decided to change this monument. This monument was thus reinstalled in 1991 as a memorial to the victims of wars and totalitarian regimes.
