History:The village of Vysoká Pec (German: Hohenofen) is located about 3 km northeast of the town of Jirkov. The name of the village was derived from the local ironworks. In historical sources the name appears in the forms Hohen Ofen (1787) or Hohenofen (1846). The first written mention of the village dates back to 1693. A blast furnace was supposed to have stood in the village, but its existence has not been documented. However, there was a hammer mill at the Hamerní pond. In the 1850s, the Karel lignite mine with the Natálie adit was opened between Vysoká Pecí and Podhůří. Later, a new machine-driven mining shaft was opened in the mine field. Twenty to thirty miners worked there and extracted up to twenty tons of coal per day, which was supplied to textile factories in Jirkov and Červený Hrádek. At the end of the 1850s, the mine was severely damaged by a water overflow. After the abolition of the patrimonial administration in the mid-19th century, the village became part of the municipality of Novosedly and in 1921 it became part of the municipality of Nové Sedlo nad Bílinou and in 1930 it became an independent municipality and has maintained its independence until the present day. After the end of World War II, this village was affected by the displacement of the original population and the resettlement of the village by settlers from the interior. While in 1930 the population was listed as 714, in 1950 it was only 474. According to the 2011 census, there were 762 inhabitants.
