History:Klášterecká Jeseň (German: Gesseln) is a small village located about 3 kilometres west of Klášterec nad Ohří. The name of the village is derived from the words ash or ash (ash tree). In historical sources, the name appears in the following forms: in villa Gyesseny (1381), puol Gyessen (1431), Gesen (1481), Gesen (1545), geslen (1542), geslon (1543), Geßeln (1787), Geszlern (1846) or Gesen and Gesseln (1854). The village belonged to the Perštejn manor, which was divided between the brothers Aleš and Vilém of Šumburk in 1431. Jeseň then belonged to Vilém and became part of the estate of the newly founded Šumburk Castle. William of Ilburk bought it together with him in 1449, but four years later he had to cede it to his creditors, the brothers Kafunk and Pfluk of Fictum. In the second half of the 16th century the village belonged to Margaretha Hofer, who sold it in 1592 to Kryšt of Fictum, who owned the Klášterek manor. At the beginning of the seventeenth century, Autumn supplied twelve trunks for the construction of a new monastery school and in 1636 paid a tithe of 24 kreutzers to the monastery parish. According to the 1654 revenue roll, the village had one peasant farmer who farmed ten hundred acres of land, eight cottagers with a total of 52 hundred acres and four people with no land. Together they kept 21 cows, 25 heifers, one sheep and twelve goats. In addition to raising cattle, people made a living by growing rye, making yarn, carting at the ironworks, and one person worked as a tailor. Between the village and Perštejn there was the Vojtěch iron ore mine from the end of the eighteenth century, which produced poor quality ore and was therefore repeatedly reopened and closed down. Although the village grew and after the mid-nineteenth century it had over 200 inhabitants, it did not have its own school and the children had to go to school in Vysoké. Cattle breeding was still an important source of livelihood. After the abolition of the patrimonial administration in the middle of the 19th century, the village became part of the municipality of Klášterec nad Ohří, but in 1880 it became an independent municipality. After the end of World War II, the original population was displaced and the inhabitants from the interior were resettled. In 1930 there were 263 inhabitants, in 1950 there were only 86 inhabitants. This resulted in the village becoming part of the municipality of Klášterec nad Ohří in 1961. According to the 2011 census, there were 76 inhabitants.
