Kadaň - deanery

Information

Visited:30. 9. 2021

History:Although it does not look like it at first glance, this deanery complex was built in Gothic style sometime during the 13th century by the Order of the Knights of St. John, who held the local market village of Kadan. It was built next to the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, with which it was connected by a Gothic roofed corridor. It was extended during the 15th to 16th centuries, when it probably became a deanery. During the 18th century, the deanery was rebuilt in Baroque style, giving it its present mass. Unfortunately, it was hit by a major fire in 1811 and was rebuilt in the classical style, giving it its present definitive form. It is a three-storey building with an irregular two-storey layout.
