Description:The Karlovy Vary district, which is part of the Karlovy Vary Region, is a fascinating area with many attractions. Its capital is the world-famous spa town of Karlovy Vary. The district borders with the other Karlovy Vary districts of Cheb and Sokolov, the Plzeň district of Plzeň-North and the Ústí nad Labem districts of Chomutov and Louny. Its north-western border forms the state border with Germany.

One fifth of the district is occupied by the Hradiště military district. The region is very diverse, with the Krušné hory mountains rising in the north and the Slavkovský les and Tepelská vrchovina in the south. To the east is a large extinct volcanic crater, or caldera, which is now known as the Doupovské hory.

The entire region is home to many historic towns and sites. In addition to Karlovy Vary, there are also Bečov nad Teplou, Toužim, Nejdek, Jáchymov and Valeč. Each of these towns has its own unique character and history that attracts visitors from all over the world. The district of Karlovy Vary is truly a jewel in the heart of Europe.
