Information

History:Na loučkách is a nature reserve in the Ore Mountains north of the town of Výsluní in the Chomutov district. The reason for the protection of the area is to preserve the typical Erzgebirge peat bog with its distinctive flora and rhizomatous hybrids. The protected area was declared by the Ministry of Culture on 31 October 1977 as a state nature reserve with a total area of 13.59 ha. The nature reserve is registered in the Central List of Nature Protection under number 646 and is administered by the Regional Authority of the Ústí nad Labem Region. Since 13 January 2005, it has been part of the Novodomské peat bog - Kovářská bird area (159.63 km²) and since 15 April 2005 also of the European site of importance Na loučkách, which has a total area of 10.15 km² and also contains the extensive natural monument Na loučkách II. The surrounding forests were already logged in the Middle Ages for the needs of iron ore mines, manufactories and industrial production, which led to a reduction in the proportion of beech (Fagus sylvatica) in the forest stands. Artificial monocultures of Norway spruce (Picea abies) were destroyed in the second half of the twentieth century by immissions from the industrial subcontinent. Drainage of the area and the introduction of non-native tree species such as the Norway spruce (Picea pungens), larch (Larix decidua), but also the bird crane (Sorbus aucuparia) and non-native birch (Betula sp.), which threaten the gene pool of the original birch populations by hybridisation, have also had a negative impact on the native communities in the wider area. After 2010, spruce stands were attacked by the fungus Lophodermium and, in the case of Norway spruce, also by the spruce budworm (Cucurbitara piceae). In the past, peat was extracted on the southern edge of the protected area. Typical upland plant species grow in the core of the protected area: swamp pine (Pinus uncinata), swamp pine (Eriophorum vaginatum), black pine (Empetrum nigrum), swamp cranesbill (Accinium oxycoccos), swamp blueberry (Vaccinium uliginosum) and grey-leaved knapweed (Andromeda polifoli). As in the wider area, the reserve is also affected by high levels of wildlife, which concentrate on open peatland sites. By gnawing on trees, the animals prevent the natural regeneration of the vegetation and cause unwanted eutrophication by droppings. Among the specially protected animals, the woodlark (Lullula arborea) and the common viper (Vipera berus) have been recorded in the area. The geological substrate of the reserve consists of rocks of the pre-War Erzgebirge crystalline rock, represented by dual-mica rules with porphyritic feldspar outcrops. During the Quaternary period, a peat layer up to 3.5 metres thick was formed on these rocks. In the geomorphological division of the Czech Republic, the site lies in the Ore Mountains, specifically in the Loučenská hornatina subdivision and the Přísečnická hornatina district. To the north of the protected area, a steep slope rises about 100 metres from the top of the mountain range, on which there is a larger peat bog protected as a nature reserve called Prameniště Chomutovka. The only soil type in the reserve is Cambrian podzol.

Impressions:An interesting place that I didn't visit because of the cut-off, and also because I didn't want to damage it with my approach.
