History:The Lapidarium of Extinct Villages of the Doupov Mountains has been built since 2003 at the chapel on Vintířov Hill above the village of Vintířov, part of the village of Radonice. It was created by the civic association Club of Historical Monuments of Radonice. The Lapidarium, which resembles a special cemetery, consists of artefacts and remains from the now defunct settlements of the Doupovské hory, demolished during the establishment of the Hradiště Military Retreat in the 1950s. Each stone or artefact, including the remains of bollards, god's torments, demolished houses or also a millstone, window lining or a military roadblock, commemorates one of the extinct villages - Doupov, Martinov, Kopáčov, Hluboká, Oleška, Sedlec, Tureč, Radnice, Zvoníčkov and many others. The first monument to Dr. Hans Kudlich was placed here in March 2003. It used to stand by the Kudlich's lookout tower on the top of Složiště (formerly Legerberg). Today the lapidarium houses more than fifty similar artefacts.
