History:Suchý Důl (German: Dörnthal) is a village located about 3.5 km east of Klášterec nad Ohří. In historical sources, the name of the village appears in the forms Durrental (1281), Suchy duol (1443, 1460), in Suchem dole (1488), Suchey duol (1593), Dürrenthal or Dörnthal (1787) and Dörnthal (1846).The first written mention of the village dates back to 1281, when it belonged to the Lords of Šumburk. It used to be part of the estate of Egerberk Castle and was bought together with it from Puta of Illburg in 1460 by Buš of Fictum. His descendants held the estate until 1557, when Bohuslav Felix Hasištejnský of Lobkowice bought it from them. In 1572, a land registry was drawn up for him, according to which there were seven settlers living in Suchý Důl, who annually paid seven kopecks of groschen, one hundredweight of oats, one and a half kopecks of eggs and twelve hens. In addition, they had to work two days on the manor's hop farm and vineyard. After the Thirty Years' War, a royalty was drawn up in 1654. Due to the barren fields, the main source of livelihood for the villagers was cattle breeding and work in the forest. At that time there were six cottagers, one gardener and one man without property in the village. Together they owned eleven covers, nine cows and six heifers. In 1863 the village had fourteen houses and 56 inhabitants, who again raised mostly cattle. The children went to school in Rašovice. After the abolition of serfdom, Suchý Důl became an independent village in 1850, but from 1869 it is listed as a settlement of Rašovice. Together with them it was annexed to Klášterec nad Ohří in 1961. After the end of World War II, the original population was displaced and the inhabitants from the interior were resettled. In 1930 there were 55 inhabitants, in 1950 there were only 33 inhabitants and this number was decreasing. According to the 2011 census, there was only one inhabitant.
