History:This medieval adit began to be minted sometime during the first half of the 16th century, when it was minted as a hereditary drainage adit. However, as there was not much groundwater here, this adit began to be used primarily for material extraction over time. Copper ore was then mined in this adit, along with other accompanying ores, to produce blue and green rock. Mining continued here until 1840 and the mine was subsequently closed in 1860. Interestingly, as early as 1911, the mine was open to the public, when it was possible to see a malachite cave with green and blue coatings. In 1944 this mine was closed and prospecting for uranium and other ores began. However, nothing was found and the mine was abandoned. Between 1994 and 1997 the mine was reopened to the public, but this time without the malachite cave, as it had been flooded with mud during that time. At this time, the mine was opened under the Georgia Agricola Foundation. After the mine closed to the public in 1998, the entrance to the mine collapsed. In 2006, the rehabilitation and re-wetting of the mine entrance began, which was carried out by the Goethe Natural History Association of Karlovy Vary together with the company Montana Bohemia, s.r.o. The current mine entrance was then created and in May 2007 the mine was reopened to the public. Unfortunately, there were disputes between the landowners and the mine was closed in 2012. Eventually the mine was reopened, in 2018, and would have been open at the time of my visit.
