History:Bergrutsch are the remains of a fortification in the Ore Mountains near Chomutov. It is located on a promontory that runs towards the left bank of the Chomutovka River at an altitude of about 510 metres. There are no written sources relating to the locality and the name Bergrutsch is only an older place name of the spur. No archaeological material has been found here that would allow dating. Jaroslav Pachner has described the site as a castle and Tomáš Durdík, judging by the appearance of the preserved remains, suggests a medieval origin. The site is reminiscent of a castle under construction but unfinished. It could be related to the protection of a trade route that ran in its vicinity as early as the fourteenth century or to the conflict between the Lords of Alamsdorf and the German Knights of Chomutov at the same time. However, fortification works were also carried out in the vicinity during the Seven Years' War and in 1937-1938. The site has an elongated oval shape. It is protected on the northern and eastern side by a rampart with a ditch. In the upper part of the promontory there is a square depression about three metres deep carved into the rune rock. A smaller ditch separates the lower end of the promontory, where it is uncertain whether it was part of the site.
