History:The Church of St. Bartholomew is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to St. Bartholomew in Bilenice in the Chomutov district. The predecessor of the church was the Gothic funeral chapel of the Hrobčice family built in the second half of the fifteenth century. In 1734 it was completely rebuilt into a Baroque church on the order of Count Philip of Kolovrat, and it was completed in 1747. The church was modified in 1770, 1818, 1829 and 1930. The church had one more bell tower, but it was taken down in 1818 due to its poor condition and was never rebuilt. On the night of 17 April 1828, a smaller bell was stolen from the church. After the end of World War II, it was no longer maintained and gradually fell into disrepair. In the second half of the 1990s the church was repaired. In 1998, the roof was repaired and a box containing memorabilia and documents was inserted into the tower. A year later, the interior was also renovated and the church was rededicated on 29 August 1999. In the following year, repairs to the facades began. The church has a single rectangular nave enclosed by a polygonal presbytery in the east, from the roof of which a sanctus tower with an onion roof projects. In the first half of the nineteenth century there used to be a second tower in the middle of the roof of the nave. The outer walls are articulated with lysen frames and terminate in a stepped cornice. A bay with a niche in a rectangular gable slightly protrudes in front of the west front. The nave and the presbytery have flat ceilings, but the sacristy at the south wall is vaulted with a Bohemian plaque. As far as the interior furnishings are concerned, the late Baroque altar was framed with a painting of the apotheosis of St Bartholomew by Adolf Weidlich from 1861. The altar included statues of Saints Peter and Paul and a painted antependium with a mid-eighteenth century scene of the Last Supper. However, the altar was moved to the parish in Boca, where it was burnt down in 1994. The church furnishings include the side altars of St John of Nepomuk and the Holy Family from the second half of the eighteenth century, a rococo pulpit and a late Gothic sandstone font from the second half of the fifteenth century. The altar of St. John of Nepomuk has an acanthus frame with a medallion of the Virgin Mary from around 1700.
